Stand and Deliver – A NEW Conflict Management CPD Launches
STA has teamed up with Stand 2, one of the UK’s leading personal safety, conflict management and physical intervention training companies, to launch a new ‘Managing Conflict and Aggression’ CPD today.
This new online training programme, which is exclusive to STA, will equip leisure personnel with the skills and strategies needed to prevent, manage, and resolve conflict and aggression when working in a customer-facing environment.
Paul Brennan Director at Stand 2, said: “Conflict and aggression are frequent issues faced in the leisure industry, as customers often have high expectations, varied needs, and experience strong emotions. As a service provider, it is crucial to handle such situations competently and professionally, while also safeguarding your well-being and your organisation’s reputation. Whilst incidents of violence are rare, it is important to be prepared and be confident in your actions, and this new 1.5-hour CPD, which we have created exclusively for STA, will show you how to effectively handle these challenges.”
The CPD topics covered include: Threat Recognition, Avoidance, Communication Skills, Teamwork and Intervention and Post Incident Procedures. On successful completion, 1 STA CPD point and a 3/4 CIMSPA CPD point will also be awarded.

Luke Griffiths and Helen Done, STA Qualifications and Business Development Managers, have both worked with Stand 2 on the creation of this professionally produced CPD, and they agree that the training is not only invaluable for employees and employers who deal with customers in their every day job role, but also for anyone who feels they would benefit personally from learning these life-critical skills.
Luke said: “Stand 2 are the experts in conflict management, and they have brilliantly shared their knowledge and expertise to create this easy-to-follow, high quality CPD. Conflict and aggression is something we all sadly need to be aware of when working in a customer-facing environment, and this training programme is superb in helping you to understand how to deal with a challenging situation in a professional, calm and safe manner.”
Prior to launching, STA invited Virgin Active and brand ambassador Camilla Golledge to test and provide feedback on the Managing Conflict and Aggression’ CPD. This is what they said:
‘‘I thought the programme was really good, I especially like the leisure videos of the lifeguards interacting with customers. I think this would definitely help leisure staff relate to situations’’.
Kevin White, Lifeguard and First Aid Trainer, Virgin Active
‘‘I was unsure what I would learn prior to completing the programme, however it provided strategies and solutions for managing different types of conflict within the workplace. The lay out was easy to navigate and the content was relevant.’’
Camila Golledge, Swimming Teacher, tutor and STA Brand Ambassador
