STA Deliver Support to Blue Triangle in Scotland to Help Non-Swimmers Access Lessons

Our year-long charity campaign called CommUNITY STArters has already seen eight not-for-profit organisations benefit from a £1000 grant in support of their community-based aquatic activities, and for September, the ninth organisation is Blue Triangle.

Blue Triangle is a Glasgow-based homelessness charity that supports over 400 young people and adults across Scotland every day with a safe secure place to live, and ongoing support. Most of the supported people in Blue Triangle’s care have not had access to swimming lessons whilst growing up, and STA’s funding will be used to help adults access lessons.

Ali Beckman, STA’s President said; “Blue Triangle is a wonderful charity that empowers people to thrive, and this includes developing key social and life skills, both of which can be obtained through swimming lessons. Swimming lessons should be available to everyone, regardless of their background and circumstances in life and we look forward to hearing how the CommUNITY STArters grant has helped adults in Blue Triangle’s care to gain self-confidence and feel more included in society.”

On receiving the news, Keara Donnachie, Blue Triangle’s Engagement and Growth Manager expressed her thanks and said; “This will really make a difference to our supported people”.
