In follow up to our recent membership survey, where an overwhelming 94% of respondents said they are happy with the current STA Membership Package, we are delighted to confirm that in 2025, we will be giving away even more added value benefits to members.

From January 2025 onwards, access to a legal helpline and a CPD worth £25 will be included as standard in the STA Associate Membership package at no extra cost to members – even though two-thirds of members in the survey said they would be willing to pay extra for these specific two services.

Dave Candler, STA’s CEO said: “We understand the importance of our membership package, as it not only provides swimming teachers with professional recognition and the vital personal insurance cover they need; it also offers a myriad of tangible benefits, as our survey confirmed – with our extensive library of educational and marketing resources cited as a major benefit, as well as the cost savings that can be achieved through our discounts on awards and events, and more.

“Plus, which I know many of you credit to be as important as the insurance cover, members have the reassurance of knowing they have the full support of our trusted team on the end of a phone.”

“For 2025, we not only wanted to freeze prices for a twelfth year in a row, we wanted to take it up a notch and add even more value into the package. This is why in the membership survey we asked what people might be willing to pay extra for – and a legal helpline and CPD were the firm favourites. Therefore, we are delighted to be able to subsidise these and add them into the 2025 package at no extra cost to members,” added Dave.

From January 2025, all STA Associate Members will have free access to the Allianz Lawphone 24 hours a day, 365 days a year where expert advisors will provide guidance on any business-related legal matter. By way of examples, the legal helpline could be used to provide advice for members on employment, contracts or disputes, aligned with the Laws of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The subject of the CPD for 2025 will be the newly updated ‘Teaching Adults’ CPD, and it will automatically be allocated into each member account via STA Online. This programme aims to give swimming teachers the knowledge and understanding to teach adult learners to swim. It covers subjects such as understanding fears and barriers, teaching approaches and strategies, and confidence practices and skills, including regaining feet, floating, rotation, treading water, submerging and the swimming strokes.

The theme for each free membership CPD will alternate every 12 months.
