CommUNITY STArters 2024

This application should be completed by not-for-profit organisations or groups who wish to apply for CommUNITY STArters funding.

CommUNITY STArters has been created to help break down barriers in communities all across the UK, and encourage new and innovative ways we can UNITE, and extend our support in grassroots swimming, in line with our charity objectives of saving lives through the teaching of swimming.

Each month in 2024, we will be awarding one organisation / group a £1000 charity grant. This forms part of our commitment to bring communities together and provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to access swimming lessons, and learn a key life skill.

The funding application process is open to all not-for-profit organisations and groups involved in grassroots swimming, and the successful applications will be aligned with our charity objectives.

    CommUNITY STArters - Terms & Conditions

    • As a UK-registered charity, STA can only accept applications from UK-based not-for-profit organisations / groups involved in grassroots swimming or water safety-related projects.

    • 12 x £1000 grants will be made available, starting from 31st January 2024 and ending on 31st December 2024. Each one will be announced monthly.

    • Not-for-profit organisations / groups can apply more than once for funding throughout 2024, but there will only be one grant approved per organisation / group over the year to ensure 12 different projects gain maximum benefit from the funding opportunity.

    • The funding granted by STA is only permitted to be used to deliver a grassroots swimming and / or water safety education programme, as set out in the application, and proof will be required.

    • If the application funding is successful, the recipient will agree to participate in all STA’s PR and comms activities and agree to be featured on our Breaking Barriers blog.

    • On the announcement of a successful applicant, STA will liaise directly with the organisation / group and agree on how the funding will be transferred.

    • The STA Trustees have the final decision, and the successful projects will be those who can show through the application process how the funding will have the greatest impact on people of all ages and abilities in their communities. Projects that could also become sustainable in the future, will also be looked on favourably.
