The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have informed the Department of Health that from 1st February 2013, the marketing and use of elemental copper as a biocide will not be allowed under the Biocidal Products Directive and the National Biocidal Products Regulations 2001, which implement the directive in Great Britain.

For users and suppliers of water treatment systems that use elemental copper & copper ionisation systems, it is important that you read the information published on HSE’s website for their statement.
