Robbie Phillips, STA’s Pool Plant expert, refers to an article here that illustrates the dangers increased pool water and air temperatures can have on pool roofs.

He advises: “The example here is in Switzerland, but through Pool Plant Operations courses I have encountered similar scenarios here in UK pools where increased temperatures have led to poor roof void ventilation.

Over the last 20 years pool water and air temperature has increased without consideration to the original design. Many UK pools have suspended ceilings with stainless steel wires that support the ceiling – this same design principle caused what happened in Switzerland.”
