2023 STA Awards Nominations Now Open
STA Ross Eagle Award
Last year to mark our 90th anniversary and in celebration of Mr Ross Eagle, who is recognised as the actual founder of the Association, we launched a new Award in his honour. This was in respect of his pioneering vision and his dogged determination to improve swimming at a time when he faced such opposition and to reflect this, the first recipient of the STA Ross Eagle Award in 2022 was Richard Bright of Rushmore Youth Swimming.
Nominations for the STA Ross Eagle Award are now open for 2023, and it will be awarded to an individual who has gone above and beyond for swimming during their career – someone who has been determined in their efforts and made a real difference to grassroots swimming, be it in their local community or on a larger scale nationally or internationally.
Any nomination must be backed by the fullest possible details of all work, efforts and contributions carried out by the nominee plus personal details on their career. This award is NOT available to employees of the STA, and STA’s Trustees will choose winner, which will be announced at STA’s National Conference in October.
The Henry Pike Trophy
For our 90th anniversary, we also brought back the coveted Henry Pike Trophy, which was awarded to Shelley Whitehead of HALF Fish Swimming – and nominations are now open for 2023.
In dedication to Henry Pike who played a crucial role in the early days of the Association as Honorary Secretary, this award is given for outstanding contribution to the STA over the last 12 months. Any nomination must be backed by the fullest possible details of all work, efforts and contributions carried out by the nominee. This award is NOT available to employees of the STA. The winner will be chosen by an independent panel and announced at the conference.
