Today, STA with Drenched, the UK’s first dedicated water polo school, is launching a new Water Polo CPD, which has been created to provide swimming teachers with a high quality and affordable resource that will help facilitate the teaching of water polo activities in grassroots swimming programmes.

The aim of introducing this new online Water Polo CPD in collaboration with Drenched, is to provide swimming teachers with the knowledge to be able to deliver the basic aspects of water polo within a learn to swim programme; as a contrasting activity or as an addition to a holiday programme or as part of STA’s Junior Lifeguard Academy.

Accordingly, both STA and Drenched want to promote all the benefits of water polo to inspire a new generation of water polo players and provide them with the basic skills to progress into water polo clubs. Plus, water polo is great for developing swimming skills, co-ordination, and balance – it helps sharpens skills already learnt within lifesaving and swimming, and all within a fun learning environment.

The topics covered within this new Water Polo programme, which will take approximately four hours to complete, include safety, equipment, water polo swimming, skills and games, sample lesson plans and progression and pathways – plus lots more. The CPD also includes supporting materials, and swimming teachers can benefit from ongoing support via an online community. On successful completion, 1 CPD point will be awarded.
