CommUNITY STArters – STA’s NEW 2024 Charity Campaign Starts Today!

As an extension to STA’s previous charity initiatives, STAnd Up for Swimming and the current STArlight campaign, we are launching a new campaign today aimed at directly supporting not-for-profit organisations and groups; to help them start or boost a community-based grassroots swimming project in 2024.

CommUNITY STArters has been created to help break down barriers in communities across the UK, and encourage new and innovative ways we can UNITE, and extend our support in grassroots swimming, in line with our charity objectives of saving lives through the teaching of swimming.

Breaking down community barriers across the UK in support of grassroots swimming.

Each month in 2024, we will be awarding one organisation / group a £1000 charity grant. This forms part of our commitment to bring communities together and provide opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to access swimming lessons, and learn a key life skill.

The funding application process is open to all not-for-profit organisations and groups involved in grassroots swimming, and the successful applications will be aligned with our charity objectives.

The starting date for applications is today (Monday 15th January 2024) and 1 not-for-profit organisation / group will be chosen each month in 2024 by STA’s Board of Trustees – 12 x £1000 grants are available. You can apply more than once for funding throughout 2024, but there will only be one grant approved per organisation / group over the year to ensure 12 different start-up projects gain maximum benefit from the funding opportunity.

When applying, consider who will benefit the most from the funding and why, how the project will be organised, and what impact it will make in your community in the short and long-term.
