STA Supports a ‘Smart’ New Community Project

STA is running a year-long charity campaign called CommUNITY STArters, which is directly aimed at supporting not-for-profit organisations or groups; to help them start or boost a community-based grassroots swimming / water safety / aquatics related project.

We are now half-way through the campaign, which has seen one organisation / group / project receive a £1000 charity grant each month from STA – and we can confirm the sixth recipient for July is the SMART Action Project CIC.

SMART Action Project CIC was set up in January 2024 with the aim of providing more aquatic opportunities for disadvantaged families and children/young people in South Molton; whether that is through subsidised swimming lessons, recreational sessions or fully funded lessons.

Ali Beckman, STA’s President said; “I have chosen the SMART Action Project CIC because they are determined to make swimming accessible for all in their community, regardless of social economic background – and STA’s CommUNITY STArters grant will enable them to offer free swimming sessions to the South Molton and District Community.

“As a charity dedicated to breaking down barriers in aquatics, we are proud to be able to support this initiative, as it will give more people the opportunity to access swimming and in turn, help them learn how to be safe in and around water.”
