STA is proud to sponsor the 2024 Employment and Skills Award at the inaugural Seriously Social Awards, in recognition of all the amazing work the Community Leisure UK members have done over the last 12 months to mentor and support their workforce’s career progression.

Community Leisure UK is a members’ association that specialises in charitable trusts delivering public leisure and culture services across the UK. Earlier this year, they ran a ‘Seriously Social Campaign to promote the brilliant work of Charitable Trusts and Social Enterprises delivering social good and putting people above profit – ‘helping shift the national narrative from deliverers of public leisure and culture to deliverers of social good’.

Following this campaign Community Leisure UK announced the Seriously Social Awards, which have been created to celebrate the social value and social impact their members make. This includes an awards category for Employment and Skills, which STA is proudly sponsoring.

Dave Candler, STA’s CEO said: “We love the ethos behind these awards as it very much resonates with our own charity values of delivering campaigns for the greater good, with STAnd Up for Swimming, STArLight and CommUNITY STArters being great examples of how we have helped the aquatic workforce with training and upskilling.

“Therefore, to sponsor the Employment and Skills Award is the perfect fit for us, and we look forward to supporting the 2024 finalists in this category who have all demonstrated their commitment to nurturing talent, by mentoring and supporting their workforce through training and development.”

The 2024 Seriously Social Awards ceremony will be hosted by Sally Gunnell OBE at the Lowry in Manchester on the 13th of November. During the awards evening, the STA team will also be exhibiting.
