STA Adds a Little Extra Sparkle to Young Swimmers in Wales

Our CommUNITY STArters campaign is set to help children and young people shine in Wales, after Sparkle, a not-for-profit organisation, became the tenth recipient of a £1000 charity grant.

Sparkle is the official charity of Serennu, Nevill Hall and Caerphilly Children’s Centres, and they work to ensure children and young people with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties, along with their families, are fully supported and able to participate in valued childhood experiences.

This includes providing support for those unable to access community swimming lessons due to their complex needs, so that they have the same range of opportunities and life experiences, as any other child and their family.

Ali Beckman, STA’s President said; “Sparkle makes such a difference to so many lives in Gwent, and the charity works tirelessly to fundraise so that they can provide the unique services, trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment needed to ensure they have the highest quality facilities and support in place.

“We are therefore very proud that we can add a little extra sparkle through CommUNITY STArters, with 84 children and young people who access Sparkle swimming lessons set to directly benefit from the funding. This will allow the organisation to provide the support the learners need to access vital life-saving skills, and gain all the health and leisure benefits associated with learning to swim.”
