Embracing the spirit of the Olympics by bringing back our Water Safety Squad, and we are looking for five golden ambassadors, aged between 7 and 12 years, to be the face of STA’s International Learn to Swim Week during 2025.
Over the summer, we will be looking for a new generation of amazingly diverse young people aged from 7-12 years to be part of our 2025 Water Safety Squad – if you know a keen diver, swimmer, artistic swimmer, water polo player, open water swimmer, canoeist, surfer or triathlete (any sport involving water) that loves their sport and maybe even has a dream of representing their country one day at the Olympics or Paralympics, please nominate them for consideration.
As a national governing body for swimming, we want to showcase how learning to swim opens the door of opportunity to so many different sports – for fun, leisure and potential Olympic success. Our 2025 Water Safety Squad will be passionate about the importance of learning to swim and water safety, and they will become ambassadors of our International Learn to Swim Week next year. Teachers / Coaches / Parents / Carers, if you would like your student / child to be the face and voice of our global water safety campaign – which this year saw more than 3,500 swim schools across 30 countries take part – and be a part of a campaign that impacts more than half a million children every year, please read on…
If so, we’re looking for children aged 7–12 years who:
- Have a genuine enthusiasm and passion for swimming / water safety / a water-based sport
- Are fun and confident in front of a camera, and who’d love to be included in our campaign marketing materials, including being featured in a promo video.
- Will support our aims and help us spread the campaign message to their family and friends
- Would like to make a difference, and create a legacy in their own community
- Would be able and willing to travel to Staffordshire for a photo and video shoot in December (exact date and location to be confirmed)
- Will commit to being a member of the STA Water Safety Squad for 12 months.
If this sounds of interest, please apply in writing by emailing marketing@sta.co.uk by 13th September 2024!
Your application will need to include the following:
- A high quality, clear photo of your nominated child
- The child’s age
- A reason why you are nominating your child — do they have a story to tell?
- 50–75 words and a short video telling us why you think they would be a great member of the STA Water Safety Squad.
Extra Incentives
- All 5 STA Water Safety Squad members will be treated to a fun session at Waterworld in Stoke on Trent – the UK’s No.1 Indoor Tropical Aqua Park.
- Each child will receive an official STA Water Safety Squad certificate and a Zoggs goody bag.
If your child makes it onto the shortlist, there may be a requirement for a video interview to be conducted in September / October.
